The Miracle Belt™ is helpful in these therapies
The Miracle Belt™ is a pediatric weighted therapy belt and weighted vest alternative which may be used as a balance aid, walking aid, and mobility aid for children with balance and mobility deficits. Therapeutic weighted belts are a new weighted therapy, weighted products, and weighted vest alternative which has been found to promote attention, focus, and self calming more effectively than a weighted vest, weighted therapy vest, pressure vest, and/or deep pressure vest.
For infants and children who have difficulty modulating or adapting to sensory sensation sensory therapy products, weighted products, can help. Weighted therapy products have been found to help stimulate interaction between the brain and the senses which is crucial for healthy neurological function. Miscommunication between the brain and the senses can be regulated with the use of sensory therapy products, weighted products, such as weighted belts, weighted blankets, and/or weighted lap pads. By stimulating the proprioceptive system these weighted products help to increase neurological feedback to the brain. Seeking to encourage the nervous system to integrate sensory information through the use of weighted sensory products can make a dramatic impact in the development of your child. With the use of weighted therapy products you will see a rapid improvement in your child's ability to focus on assigned tasks. Another major area where weighted sensory products are helpful, especially a therapeutic weighted belt, is with children who have gross motor developmental delays such as balance and mobility delays. Once a child is able to regulate sensory information it's just a matter of time before their new found confidence and/or legs will carry them to new heights. These proprioceptive aids are skill builders for many children with sensory needs.
The old mentality of having to use ten percent of body weight for sensory regulation is false. Our consulting therapists have discovered between four and seven percent of body weight is the most effective percentage of body weight to provide sensory regulation benefits without over loading the child. Every child is different and requires different sensory needs to help regulate sensory stimuli. When applying any weighted clothing whether its a weighted belt, weighted vest, weighted blanket, or weighted lap pad you are helping to stimulate the neurological system to strengthen the central nervous system. Without being grounded the body can easily over load on sensory stimuli the same way a cars electrical system would if the car was not grounded. We ground our houses, we ground our cars, we ground electrical appliances, and we are learning more and more that we have to ground our bodies. There are many ways to help ground the body, one way is through the modification of the diet with more alkaline foods and foods with fewer pesticides and chemicals, yoga or thai chi is another, but the quickest way is through the use of weighted therapy products.
Nearly 4 million children and young adults have been prescribed amphetamine-like stimulants to treat Autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in the United States. Reports of serious side effects are leading doctors and researchers to evaluate the way ADHD drugs are prescribed. Many prescriptions are being written by family doctors with little expertise in diagnosing ADHD, raising doubts about how many children who are taking these drugs really need them. Sensory therapy is not a cure all for Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Sensory therapy is a highly effective alternative for children with attention deficits and behavior problems without the use of perscription drugs. The chemicals in perscription drugs can cause many different side effects from these drugs building up in your child's system. Whether your child requires help studying at home or at school weighted therapy products are a highly effective alternative to drugs. We strongly recommend you give sensory therapy a try over drugs. The Miracle Belt may also be used as a weight lap pad during studying.
Since the weighted belt is centered around the waist less weight is needed to provide the necessary proprioceptive feedback for sensory regulation. Not only does less weight work more effectively around the waist but the weighted belt also eliminate excess body heat and discomfort caused by the weighted vest. Therapeutic weighted belts have been proven to provide children with a solid base of support creating a stronger core which is the foundation of all movement where a weighted vest simply can not. Many therapists have noticed the weighted vest can effect posture, especially with children who are low tone. Therapeutic weighted belts are clearly the most effective weighted therapy, weighted products, weighted lap pads, weighted vest alternative, and weighted blanket buddy for infants and children with Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and many other sensory challenges. The Miracle Belt is a childrens belts for sensory needs!
Frequently Asked Questions
How did the Miracle Belt™ get its name?
Actually, the therapeutic professionals who did our initial testing inspired the name for the Miracle Belt™. During the early stages of testing, therapists kept saying; "this belt is miraculous". Quite simply, the name stuck based on the feedback we received during development.
Who will benefit from using the Miracle Belt™?
Anyone facing the challenges posed by Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Angelman syndome, Apraxia, Aspergers syndrome (AS), Ataxia, Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Dyslexia, Fetal Alcohol syndrome (FAS), Hypotonia, Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD-NOS), Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS), Rett syndrome, Sensory Integration Disorder (SID), and Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) will benefit.
How does the Miracle Belt™ work?
The Miracle Belt™ stimulates the proprioceptive system through nerve receptors that are positioned in the muscles, joints and ligaments around joints. These receptors sense tension and pass this information to the brain where it is processed. The brain responds by signaling the muscles to contract or relax creating improved awareness through a stronger neuro-muscular connection with the brain.
What is Proprioception?
Proprioception is the sense of position and movement of the limbs and the sense of muscular tension. The awareness of the orientation of the body in space and the direction, extent, and rate of movement of the limbs depend in part upon information derived from sensory receptors in the joints, tendons, and muscles. Information from these receptors, called proprioceptors, is normally integrated with that arising from vestibular receptors (which signal gravitational acceleration and changes in velocity of movements of the head), as well as from visual, auditory, and tactile receptors. Sensory information from certain proprioceptors, particularly those in muscles and tendons, need not reach consciousness, but can be used by the motor system as feedback to guide postural adjustments and control of well-practiced or semiautomatic movements such as those involved in walking.
What is Sensory Integration?
Sensory Integration (SI) is an innate neurobiological process which refers to the integration of sensory stimulation, within our environment, by the brain. Our brain allows us, without conscious thought, to take in information from our senses, organize it and make a plan to produce a meaningful response so we may interact within our environment. The senses which are the most obvious are those of taste, touch, sight, hearing, and smell. The hidden senses are those of movement (vestibular or inner ear) and of body position in space (proprioception). These hidden senses are the regulators of our nervous system and help build the foundation for purposeful movement.

The Miracle Belt is a patented product.
How long will it take to see Results?
Most children will experience immediate and dramatic results while others will experience a gradual increase in awareness over time.
How do you recommend we introduce the Miracle Belt™ to our child?
The Miracle Belt™ is an highly effective sensory aid! Be confident when you put the belt on! Some children need a sense of ownership before they become comfortable with wearing the belt. We recommend you leave the belt in your child's room for a few days so they become familiar with the belt. Some parents call the belt a "Batman Belt" or "Magic Belt".
Note: If your child is not feeling well this might cause them to be resistant to wearing the belt.
For how long should my child wear the belt?
The Miracle Belt™ may be worn from 15 to 30 minutes to all day with breaks for meals, outside play, etc. Your child may prefer to wear the belt over their lap while eating. Watch your child's behavior, they will let you know when they've had enough. The amount of time your child wears the belt may vary from day to day.
Note: Some children may prefer to wear the belt under their clothing.
Is the Miracle Belt™ safe?
Absolutely! The latest advancements in foam manufacturing were incorporated into the design of the Miracle Belt™, along with quality workmanship, ensuring the Miracle Belt™ is the most durable, comfortable, and safe sensory aid for infants and children.
Has the Miracle Belt™ been tested?
Miracle Belts's initial testing was done by occupational and physical therapists at Community Haven for Adults and Children (CHAC) in Sarasota, Florida www.chachaven.com. The wildly successful introduction of the Miracle Belt™ into their sensory therapy rehabilitation program has greatly improved the quality of rehabilitation sessions by allowing the therapists to make the most of their precious time with each child. Specifically, wear of the Miracle Belt™ helps create more balanced, calm, and aware children regardless of their sensory needs. The findings of CHAC are consistent with feedback from practical application from occupational therapists, physical therapists, teachers, and parents. The Miracle Belt™ is a sensory aid which safely and immediately calms the wearer and improves body awareness!
Why is the Miracle Belt™ more effective than a weighted vest?
There are a number of reasons why the Miracle Belt is more effective than a weighted vest. During development of the Miracle Belt™ many therapists shared the problems they encountered while using the weighted vest. One occupational therapist told us about how one of her ADHD clients began throwing the weight from the vest because he didn't like the way the weighted vest felt. Due to these types of experiences with the weighted vest our consulting therapists recommended we design the Miracle Belt™ with stationary weight. Because the weighted belt is centered around the waist less weight is needed to provide effective proprioceptive feedback for sensory regulation. Therapeutic weighted belts help provide children with a solid base of support creating a stronger core which is the foundation of all movement. Many therapists have noticed how the weighted vest effects posture, especially with children who are low tone. Not only does less weight work more effectively around the waist but it also elliminates excess body heat and discomfort caused by the weighted vest. Therapeutic weighted belts are clearly the most effective weighted vest alternative for children with Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and sensory needs.
What is the difference between the Miracle Belt™ and Sensory Belt™?
The only difference between the Miracle Belt™ and Sensory Belt™ is the size. The Miracle Belt™ is specifically designed for infants and children weighing less than 75 pounds. The Sensory Belt™ is specifically designed for children, teens, and adults weighing more than 75 pounds. Both the Miracle Belt™ and Sensory Belt™ are designed with a side release buckle which makes them easy to adjust.
Does the Miracle Belt™ come in different colors?
Every belt comes standard in black but we do offer blue and pink belt covers. Please contact us at 732-534-7679 if you are interested in purchasing the blue or pink covers.
